What does being a man mean?

I asked myself this question and began searching for answers.

  • Does “being a man” mean you have a muscular physique?
  • Does it mean making millions of dollars?
  • Does it mean getting all the ladies’ attention?
  • Does it mean growing a beard?

I believe “being a man” meant going to wars and fighting battles in the twentieth century. But things have changed now. The definition of a man is not what it was a hundred years ago.

Being a man doesn’t represent fighting in wars or becoming physically strong.

Here are some notes I gathered on what “being a man” truly meant:

  • A man takes care of himself and his family.
  • A man is a leader. He is responsible for other people.
  • A man takes accountability. He doesn’t blame other people or situations for his circumstances. He takes full responsibility for his actions.
  • A man’s purpose is not to be happy. It is to be useful.
  • A man makes the hard decisions.
  • A man makes sacrifices.
  • A man makes unpopular decisions.
  • A man is comfortable in his own skin.
