I started writing online in 2020. At the time, I had no idea where it would lead me.

I enjoyed writing, so I started a blog. My goal was to inspire my readers through my articles. I had no plans about my niche or target audience. All I knew was I wanted to write and share my ideas online.

Later, I planned to monetize my blog with ads and affiliate links. I tried it for a few months, but it didn’t work. I didn’t see a significant growth in my income.

Even though my primary goal was to inspire others, I was disappointed because I couldn’t cash in on my work.

But I kept going.

I tried SEO, starting a newsletter, guest posting, and more ways to grow my blog. Still, everything remained the same.

Then, I joined Medium at the end of 2020, and things changed.

I learned from other writers/creators and how they were making money. I followed their path. After reading their stories, I understood that online income wouldn’t come easily. There is no such thing as “passive income.” And the most significant thing I needed was patience.

My two goals then were to grow my email list and write an ebook.
