I Took a Writing Break For 7 Days, and Now I Have a Hard Time Getting Back
Here’s what I learned.
The past week was crazy. I didn’t write anything on Medium. I was also inactive on social platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter. There were several reasons for it.
It was my girlfriend’s birthday this week. I had planned a surprise for her. It was a big one, so the preparations took a lot of time. We celebrated the day with her sister and family. The next night, we had dinner together. The entire week was occupied for the birthday.
But that wasn’t the only reason I didn’t write. I needed a break from creating. So I intended not to write articles or post on social media. However, I was still reading stories on Medium and consuming other content.
I expected this break to be like a reset button. I thought it would be easy to recover after returning to it. After a week, I opened a draft page yesterday and started writing. But it wasn’t what I had expected. I couldn’t write anything. My mind froze. Although I had a few topics in mind, I wasn’t motivated to finish even a single piece.
It worried me because I thought I would be writing like before. I wrote every day. Sometimes I wrote long-form articles; sometimes, I wrote short posts on LinkedIn or my newsletter. Now, I am unable to start…
