I Quit My Job After I Understood This

Getting paid for time vs. getting paid for results.

If you work at a job, you are paid for your time. It means that you have a fixed salary.

Most people are happy working for time. It gives them a sense of security.

I’ll tell you why this is wrong.

When you get paid for time, you have a fixed income. It does not matter (in most cases) whether you work hard or don’t work hard. Your employer is bound to pay you the salary.

So, if you are a hard worker, you will not be paid for what you are truly worth.

In contrast, you will be paid for your results if you own a business, for instance. So, if you work more, you will earn more.

Getting paid for results provides an opportunity to earn more. But, your income is usually not fixed. Instead, it depends on how hard you work.

“There is nothing wrong with getting a steady paycheck unless it interferes with your ability to earn what you’re worth.”

— T. Harv Eker, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.

Working in sales is a perfect example; the more sales you make, the more commissions you earn.

I quit my job after I realized that I wasn’t being paid for my results. Instead, they were paying me for my time.

I understood that rich people don’t work for time. That is why they start a business, make investments, and most importantly, never work for a fixed income.

Working for time does provide you a security and reduces your risks. But, it also blocks your opportunities to make more money.

Lesson learned: Choose to get paid for your results, not your time.
