Don’t Write to Publish. Write to Write.
Always be writing.
If you aim to become a better writer, the path is easy. You don’t need to follow specific rules or study tons of books on writing.
You certainly don’t need to take a course, although it may help you a little.
Like every other craft, the best way to learn is by doing. No matter how many courses you take or books you read, you won’t become good at it if you don’t take action.
Take swimming as an example. Have you ever met anyone who learned how to swim by reading books or watching swimming videos? That sounds ridiculous. There is only one way to learn how to swim: by getting into the water and moving your hands and feet.
Similarly, if you want to learn how to write better, you have to start writing more.
You don’t have to write long articles every day. It can be challenging to do so, especially if you are just starting.
Instead, you can write LinkedIn posts, Twitter threads, ideas, goals, thoughts/feelings/events of the day, etc.
Journaling is one of the best ways to keep your writing habits intact. It’s easy, and you don’t have the pressure of anyone reading it. Journaling is only for yourself.
