Imagine you are standing in front of a light pole. But the light from the bulb is not facing you. Instead, it’s in the opposite direction. You want the light to face you. Will the pole ever turn toward you unless an external force is applied?

No. It won’t.

But there is one way you can receive the light from the pole: By walking to the point where there is light.

Humans are social animals. We have friends, colleagues, partners, and parents. They are an important part of our lives. So, people are constantly around us whether we want it or not.

Every person on earth is unique.

We have different interests, thoughts, desires, and choices. Two individuals can't have everything in common. Even couples who have been married for years have different personalities. Fights and arguments are common in relationships, even in good ones. But that doesn’t mean they all end up in divorces and breakups.

I’m sure you have had an idea from the light pole example that it is impossible to change someone entirely for you. But what you can do instead is change yourself.

Change yourself first
