A Threat to Creativity?

My Ghibli-style image generated by ChatGPT

We’re all familiar with the ChatGPT Ghibli-style images that have been trending lately. Users are going wild with this feature, and it’s all over social media.

The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, had to ask the users to chill.

The growing popularity of this trend has raised concerns among artists and creatives, who say that what took hours of hard work can now be replicated in seconds.

But isn’t that a good thing because it makes your work easier and maybe 100x quicker?

I’m not an artist who speaks about what’s right or wrong. However, I am a writer, which also requires creative efforts. AI has also become a concern for writers. At first, I thought it was a good thing that AI could make our jobs easier. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t try writing stories with AI.

Obviously, I didn’t just copy and paste everything that popped up on my screen. I’ve always used AI to make my job easier. For example, I’d ask it to give me ideas, create outlines for a draft, or do basic research.
